Quarr Abbey
In the spirit of the Gospel and of the Holy Rule the Community at Quarr seeks to welcome warmly all guests to the monastic guest house.
All our guests are encouraged to share in the Liturgy of the Hours which forms the framework of the monastic day. We hope that by sharing in the prayer and the silence of the monastery our guests may be able to come closer to God.
“I was a stranger and you welcomed me” Matthew 25:35
The Abbey Church is open to all for private prayer and there is also the smaller Pilgrim Chapel which guests and visitors are very welcome to use for prayer and meditation. As well as this, the Abbey is set in over a hundred acres of very beautiful grounds and there are also many fine walks available on the Island within easy reach of the monastery.
The Guest Masters are responsible for the welfare of guests during their stay. Priests are available for the Sacrament of Reconciliation and one of the Community will be available if a guest just wants to talk for any reason whatever.
“All guests are to be welcomed as Christ.”Rule of St. Benedict Chapter 53
The Guest House contains ten rooms with eleven beds. Three of the rooms are en suite and one of them has full facilities for use by a disabled person with a wheelchair. All the rooms have hot and cold water, and there are adequate modern shower and washing facilities provided.
